Fort Collins, Colorado – Traditionally, immunotherapy has meant allergy shots. Allergy shots are a time-consuming and lengthy treatment, which involves a doctor’s visit for each injection. The intent is to build the immunity of patients, such that they no longer react to an allergen.
Unfortunately, such immunotherapy does not work for food allergies.
Now, a homeopathic remedy has been developed to do the equivalent of immunotherapy but without the injections. ProActive Remedies LLC has released their Allertherapy product for food allergies. This oral spray is designed to treat the most common food allergens in one remedy.
The Allertherapy spray has low, homeopathic allergen strength of just one molecule of the original allergens per million parts. This allows it to be used safely by an individual while still helping to build immunity to the food allergen.
This product is capitalizing on the success of the Duke University Medical Center and Arkansas Children’s Hospital research, which showed that even severely peanut-allergic children could build immunity to the peanut allergen through gradually increasing doses of peanut flour taken orally. The initial dose was as little as 1/1000th of a peanut, but built to as much as the equivalent of 15 peanuts per day by the study’s completion 10 months later.
Homeopathic preparations are even safer than doses of the actual allergen. With homeopathic preparations, the patient receives an extremely low concentration of the original substance. However, the process of creating the homeopathic remedy results in an oral spray which is still able to treat allergies effectively.
Homeopathic remedies avoid issues with adverse reactions that occur when dosages of the allergen are increased in traditional immunotherapy. The Allertherapy approach continues with the same extremely low dosing throughout the treatment phase, avoiding reactions while still encouraging desensitization.
ProActive Remedies LLC is the maker of this homeopathic preparation. Because it is a homeopathic, you can buy this over the counter, without a prescription. They do recommend, however, that you discuss the use of this product with your doctor, especially if your allergies are very severe.
